The Executive Director is the principal agent of the Board of Trustees (BOT) and elective officers and acts as the chief operating officer of the Association and all of its subsidiaries. The duties are to:

+ preserve and protect the Constitution and Bylaws and the standing rules of this Association;

+ facilitate the activities of the officers and trustees of this Association in carrying out their respective administrative responsibilities under these Bylaws;

+ engage the staff, direct and coordinate their activities; provide guidance in the formulation and recommendation of new policies to the BOT and elective officers;

+ oversee the management of policies that have been adopted by the BOT and / or the House of Delegates (HOD);

+ assist the BOT in supervising, monitoring and providing guidance to all Association committees in regard to their administrative functions and specific assignments; and

+ to systematize the preparation of their reports, and to encourage the exchange of information concerning mutual interests and issues between committees and leadership.

This position is open due to the retirement of the Executive Director. The Association is a non-profit professional organization organized in 1859. The Association has 12 talented staff members and fosters an atmosphere of teamwork. We seek candidates with demonstrated professionalism to enhance the integrity and ethics of the profession of dentistry. To be considered for this position candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: a bachelor’s degree; working knowledge of and experience with strategic planning; strong conceptual and analytical skills; excellent verbal and interpersonal skills; strong understanding of and experience with management information systems and technology; significant public speaking experience; outstanding organization and prioritization skills; experience at independent decision making using exceptional judgment; demonstrated administrative management expertise; and proven leadership qualities.

This position requires moderate travel within the state and minimum domestic travel, as well as working weekends for meetings and various work related obligations. Extensive knowledge of the health care industry and the profession of dentistry and the issues confronting dentists is highly desirable. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
