The Georgia Dental Association offers a wealth of benefits to doctors who choose join their professional organization! Here are just some of the benefits that will become yours as an American Dental Association and Georgia Dental Association member:
 

Legislative Advocacy: The ADA presence in Washington, and the GDA presence at the State Capitol, saves your practice hundreds of dollars annually by opposing or changing legislation that adversely affects your dental practice. Member receive periodic emails during the state legislative session that alert you to dental advocacy activities.

Regulatory Monitoring: GDA staff members regularly monitor and offer input at state departmental and regulatory meetings, include the Georgia Board of Dentistry, and provide you with the latest information on OSHA, HIPAA, waste disposal, certification, security paper requirements, and other issues.

Member Publications: The GDA produces a monthly newsletter with contains relevant communications and thoughtful commentary for GDA members. The GDA also maintains an informative web site at www.gadental.org. The GDA Facebook group provides the membership with on-the-fly information on professional issues.

Annual Meeting: Every summer, the GDA holds an annual meeting that provides members with the opportunity to obtain excellent continuing education needed for license renewal as well as the chance to network with colleagues and friends in a relaxed setting.

Patient Referrals: The GDA routinely makes referrals to member dentists to consumers who call the executive office. The Find a Dentist feature on the GDA web site is one of the most visited parts of the GDA web site.

Georgia Dental Insurance Services: This GDA subsidiary provides members with excellent insurance products and accessibility to a highly qualified staff of insurance experts who work on your behalf. GDIS staff members work for the dentists, not the insurance companies.

Medicaid and PeachCare Advocacy: GDA staff members regularly assist the hundreds of Medicaid and PeachCare dentist providers in Georgia with payment, patient advocacy, and coverage issues. The GDA consistently lobbies at the State Capitol for fair treatment of patients and providers within the current Medicaid Care Management Organization (CMOs) system.

Community Services: The GDA provide organization and support for the Georgia Mission of Mercy, health fairs, Special Olympics Special Smiles, Give Kids a Smile Day, Children’s Dental Health Month, TeamSmile with the Atlanta Falcons, and numerous other organized charitable activities. The GDA provides support for member dentists and dental staff who volunteer individually and use their skills to reach out to patients and general members of the public.

Student Relations: The GDA is a significant presence at Georgia Regents University College of Dental Medicine and provides support and information for dental students so they are ready to graduate and participate effectively in organized dentistry. The GDA supports the Mentor Program between GRU dental students and GDA members and provides beginning practice support for newly licensed dentists.

Endorsed Programs: The GDA endorses select products and services after scrutinizing the value they offer and determining if GDA members could benefit significantly. Third Party Issues: The GDA provide advocacy for doctors and their patients who are dealing with the complexities of modern insurance coverage. For instance, in the most recent three months, the GDA has assisted members with topics such as denials for claims; medical necessity; claims appeals; contract provisions related to patient coverage waiting periods and benefits; x-ray bundling; what to do when insurance companies deny receiving claims; coding questions; primary versus secondary payers and how to determine which is primary; silent PPO networks; stored value credit card payments by insurance companies; assignment of benefits issues; and balance billing and non-covered services.

Contract Analysis: The GDA also offers a complimentary Contract Analysis Service for members. This service provides a clear, plain language explanation of contract terms and is designed to allow dentists to make informed and independent decisions on the merits of participating dentist contracts.

Public Relations Central: The GDA is the front line for the media and other interested parties in Georgia in getting a positive message across about dentistry, as the ADA is nationwide. The GDA and ADA respond to media situations in an informed and effective manner on behalf of the profession.
