2020 GDA Convention & Expo Cancellation Notice
May 20, 2020
After carefully monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and weighing the emerging facts, the Georgia Dental Association has made the necessary decision to cancel the annual Georgia Dental Association Convention & Expo originally scheduled for July 16-19, 2020 in Amelia Island.
Protecting the health, safety, and well-being of our members, attendees, and ultimately our dental patients is paramount. We also want to respect our dentists’ need to be available and healthy for their own patients and communities. Out of an abundance of caution, canceling the GDA Convention & Expo is the right thing to do during this historic time.
The GDA Convention Committee has worked diligently over the past year to put together the 2020 convention. We are extremely appreciative of their efforts and disappointed not to be able to hold the meeting as planned. In 2021, we look forward to hosting the high-caliber meeting that you, your family, guests and exhibitors have come to expect.
Many GDA members plan summer vacations that align with the GDA Convention and who may wish to still do so at the Ritz. To that end, we are pleased to announce that the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island will extend the GDA hotel rate to members. You can stay at the hotel for fun during the original contracted dates or other dates during the 2020 summer at the same low GDA Family and Friends rates (get the promo code).
Shortly, more details will follow regarding convention registrations and a virtual House of Delegates meeting. However, we wanted everyone to have advance notice to plan and/or schedule patients. If you have already booked your hotel room for the Convention and wish to cancel or change your hotel stay dates, the Ritz will issue you a full refund. Contact the hotel directly by visiting the reservation page or by calling 904.277.1100. And if you paid your registration fee, the GDA will issue a repayment to you as well. Information for exhibitors and sponsors will also be forthcoming.
If you have further questions, please contact Scott Piper at firstname.lastname@example.org. Otherwise, more information will be provided in the weeks ahead.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and unwavering commitment to the dental profession and the GDA.
