Phlebotomy Training

Phlebotomy and IV Access for the Dentist and Dental Auxiliary

The GDA is proud to offer this one-day course for you and your dental teams. It is one of only three Phlebotomy/Venipuncture Courses for Dental Assistants and/or licensed Dental Hygienists approved by the Georgia Board of Dentistry.

The purpose of this course is to educate licensed dentists, licensed dental hygienists, and dental assistants practicing in Georgia so that they may be qualified to perform phlebotomy and venipuncture procedures on patients pursuant to the requirements established by O.C.G.A. § 43-11-23, and Georgia Board of Dentistry Rule 150-9-.01. This 8-hour course will provide introductory education and skills for phlebotomy and venipuncture for the student. Additionally, the student attendee will learn about platelet rich factor, infection control, biomedical waste and dental emergencies. Upon return to the practice setting and coupled with continued guidance of an authorizing dentist, attendees shall be able to develop skills to a high level of proficiency and efficiency.

A combination of interactive lecture and hands-on practical activities, it will be restricted to 20 participants supported by one instructor and two clinical assistants.

This course is instructed by Dr. Lee Whitesides.  A GDA member and CE instructor, Dr Whitesides also created the course. Click here to learn more about Dr. Whitesides.
