2027 GDA Ski & CE

Join Colleagues and friends in beautiful Vail, Colorado for a week of learning and hitting the slopes January 11th-14th. This inaugural event is sure to have something for everyone, from black diamonds to black plaque care, mark your calendars for the ski trip you can't miss. 

The host hotel will be the Sonnenalp hotel, with walk up access to the Vail Resort lifts and a discounted room block available in your confirmation e-mail with rates starting at $595/night. CE courses will begin at 7:00am on Monday, January 11th. Each day will begin with CE in the morning, a break during the day for hitting the slopes, followed by a bit more CE in the evenings, for a total of 14 hours of CE. We will have a cocktail reception Tuesday evening, registered spouses & guests are welcome.

  • Non-Member Dentists - $1,500
  • Primary Dental Team Member - $1,100
  • Additional Dental Team Members - $750
  • Guests - $40

Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be submitted in writing to the GDA Events Manager Chelsea Skalski at chelsea@gadental.org

  • Full Refund: Written cancellations received on or before November 9, 2026 will receive a full refund. 
  • Partial Refund: Written cancellations received between November 9 and 16, 2026 will be subject to a $150 administrative fee. 
  • No Refund: After November 16, 2026 no refunds will be issued without prior written approval from the GDA Ski & CE team. 

Please note individuals are responsible for their own transportation, housing and ski/board lift tickets.

Dr. Maron attended Emory University Dental School and residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, followed by a 1-year fellowship in reconstructive surgery. After finishing his residency at Emory, Dr. Glenn Maron has remained in Atlanta where he was a full- time faculty member at Emory until 1994. After leaving Emory, he continued his private practice in Midtown Atlanta.

Dr. Tyler Rathburn, known as Dr. Tyler, grew up in Sandy Springs, GA. He attended Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (K–12), earned a BA in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia in 2009, and completed his DMD and orthodontics certificate at the Medical College of Georgia by 2015. While in dental school, he was part of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society and held leadership roles in student initiatives. He has since served as Director and Vice-President of the Georgia Association of Orthodontists and on the Alumni Board of his former school.

Jay Smith, DDS

Dr. Smith earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, received his dental degree, and completed his residency in prosthodontics at Emory University in 1990. He was awarded the Hinman Scholar Award for Scholastic Achievement. He is past president of the Western Georgia section of the American College of Prosthodontists and a member of the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, and the Hinman Dental Society. He lectures nationally and internationally on esthetic, implant, and restorative dentistry. In his private practice in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Smith provides comprehensive prosthodontic care, focusing on enhancing patients' smiles and restoring their oral health with precision and compassion.

Thomas Van Dyke, DDS, PhD

Chair, Department of Applied Oral Sciences Center for Periodontology in Cambridge, MA

Dr. Van Dyke is an internationally recognized leader in periodontology and periodontal research. A past President of the International Association of Periodontology, he has served on numerous editorial boards, edited two volumes of Periodontology 2000, and authored more than 400 scientific publications. His research focuses on the inflammatory processes underlying periodontal and infectious diseases, with particular emphasis on the role of immune cells, disease pathogenesis, and emerging periodontal therapies. Dr. Van Dyke is widely known for his pioneering work in juvenile periodontal disease, inflammation resolution in periodontitis, and clinical research advancing patient care.
