Course Description:
Osteonecrosis of the jaw can be a complex condition with significant implications for dental care and patient quality of life. This one-hour webinar explores both radiation- and medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw, including pathophysiology, diagnostic work-up, staging, and current medical and surgical treatment approaches. Participants will gain practical knowledge to support earlier recognition and appropriate treatment decisions to help optimize patient outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the pathophysiology and causes of radiation- and medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw.
- Recognize clinical findings associated with osteonecrosis of the jaw and describe appropriate diagnostic work-up and staging.
- Compare medical and surgical treatment approaches based on the presentation and stage of disease.

Beomjune B. Kim, D.M.D., M.D., F.A.C.S., is a head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstructive surgeon at City of Hope Cancer Center Atlanta. Dr. Kim
has been with City of Hope since 2019, relocating his practice to Atlanta in 2021. As a head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Kim has
extensive
addressing the complex surgical needs of head and neck cancer patients, and those needing head and neck reconstruction.
Dr. Kim earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry. While at the University of Maryland, Dr. Kim received a Doctor of Medicine degree then completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in oral and maxillofacial urgery. He also completed a fellowship in head and
neck oncology and microvascular reconstructive surgery at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Kim is an American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Diplomate and earned a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Head and Neck Oncologic and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery by demonstrating significant skills in his area of specialty.
